Police are continuing to question four people arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in a property in Liskeard.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead at a property on Baytree Hill in Liskeard shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday, September 13.
A local man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Soon after, three more people were arrested on the same suspicion: two local men aged in their 40s and 50s, and a man in his 20s from Plymouth.
A cordon was placed around part of the town centre while Crime Scene Investigators examined a shelter and garden area on Dean Street, believed to be connected to the incident.
Police believe the victim is a man in his 50s from Liskeard, though formal identification has not yet taken place.
Cornwall Live has been told today that investigators sought a warrant of further detention for all four men in custody. This gives detectives more time to hold a suspect while inquiries continue.
Under Section 42 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, a superintendent or higher-ranking officer can authorise an extension of up to 36 hours without going to court. Once that time runs out, police must apply to a court for a Magistrate's Warrant of Further Detention if they want to hold someone beyond 36 hours without charge.
Earlier this week, Det Insp Pete Gee said residents in Liskeard would see an "increased police presence around the town". He said police appreciated that incidents "such as this cause great concern within the community, however we do not believe there is any wider threat to the community at this time."
