Police have arrested four people on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a man's body in a property in Liskeard. The arrest came after officers were called to the scene, and a murder investigation is now underway.
This morning, residents and shop staff in Liskeard town centre woke to police cordon tape along Dean Street, with officers focusing on a bus shelter and a neighbouring garden. Crime Scene Investigators were seen examining the scene.
In a statement released this evening, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the investigation. A spokesperson said: "Officers were called shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday 13 September after a report a man had been located deceased within a property at Baytree Hill.
"Officers attended the address and found the victim inside.
"A local man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
"Fast-paced enquiries identified three further suspects.
"Two local men aged in their 40s and 50s respectively were soon located locally and arrested on suspicion of murder.
"A man in his 20s from Plymouth has since also been arrested on suspicion of murder.
"All four suspects remain in police custody at this time.
"The victim is believed to be a man in his 50s from Liskeard although formal identification has yet to take place."
Det Insp Pete Gee said: "Residents in Liskeard will today see an increased police presence around the town as our investigation continues at pace.
"We appreciate incidents such as this cause great concern within the community, however we do not believe there is any wider threat to the community at this time.
