Two deaths within 24 hours have left a Cornish town reeling.
The first incident took place at around 10.10pm on Friday, September 11, when police were called to a single-vehicle crash involving a tractor and trailer on an unclassified road near St Ewe. The driver of the tractor, a local man in his 20s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for a time while an examination of the scene was carried out. The incident was then handed over to National Highways at around 3.50pm the following day (Saturday 12), after the vehicle had been recovered.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or for anyone who may have dashcam footage that could assist with their inquiries.
The second tragedy took place on Saturday afternoon when British Transport Police received reports at around 3.30pm on Saturday [September 12] of a casualty on the tracks by the rail station. Paramedics also attended the scene, but sadly, a person was pronounced deceased at that location.
The incident was not being treated as suspicious, and a file is now being prepared for the coroner to hold an inquest.
