A pedestrian has died after a crash on the A380 this morning (Thursday, August 13).
Emergency services were called to the scene on the South Devon Expressway near Kingskerwell, around 4.30am, after reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries, police confirm.
The road was closed for several hours while an investigation of the scene was carried out.
The road reopened in both directions around 2.15pm.
Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage to contact the force quoting reference number 50260215091.
A statement from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses and footage follow a fatal road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a car on the A380 South Devon Highway, near Kingskerswell.
"It took place at the start of the highway between Torquay and Newton Abbot. Sadly, the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries."
