Heavy rain is expected to soak all of Devon on Tuesday, according to the Met Office. A large band of precipitation will move from the Atlantic over the south west in the early hours, with the heaviest rain forecast for Tuesday morning. The band is expected to fizzle out by around 6:30am as most people wake up.
While most of the day will be dry, rain is set to return to a few major towns in the early evening, the Met Office weather maps show.
The forecast said: “Heavy rain slowly clearing the southeast in the morning. A brighter day for many and feeling fresh. Winds gradually easing in the north, with showers too.”
The weather is set to improve from Wednesday (September 9). Meteorologists added: “Drier and brighter on Wednesday with spells of sunshine.
“Another band of rain then moves in for Thursday, before drier and brighter weather returns on Friday. Temperatures are likely around average.”
The forecast high temperature on Tuesday is 20C in Exeter and Totnes, but the high will be at least 17C across the county.
