For those who want a quieter side of Cornwall after the summer rush, this hidden spot is a great pick. It may be small, but its natural beauty is stunning.
CN Traveller named Trevone Bay one of the UK's best beaches last year. It sits near the harbour town of Padstow on the north coast.
The bay has a gentle sandy shore backed by dramatic cliffs. It also has the distinctive Trevone Round Hole and a popular tidal pool.
In 2024, it earned both a Blue Flag Award and a Seaside Award. These recognise its environmental efforts, water quality and beach safety.
For self-catering stays, Atlanta Trevone offers upmarket clifftop lodgings just a short walk from the sand. Alternatively, guests can book a room at The Pig at Harlyn Bay, where the beds are so comfortable that you will need willpower to leave for the sunrise over the coast.
Trevone Bay is full of life on land and in the sea. The South West Coast Path runs along the cliffs, giving walkers wide views towards Hawkers Cove, the Camel Estuary and beyond.
Visitors can also see the 80ft blow-hole known as Round Hole, formed when a sea cave collapsed. It adds to the area's geological importance and its status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
For marine wildlife fans, Rocky Beach is just past the small headland. It gets its name from its rocky outcrops and is perfect for rock-pooling.
There is also the Trevone tidal pool, one of the largest in Cornwall. Locals affectionately call it "Tinker Bunny's Bathing Pool".
