Newquay Pride has been cancelled ahead of the bank holiday washout. In an update today, organisers said the event, planned for tomorrow (Saturday, August 29) in Newquay, has been cancelled due to the weather forecast. The Met Office has warned of heavy downpours from 6am, with extremely heavy rain expected through most of Saturday.
In a statement, Cornwall Pride said the "severe weather conditions" forecast for tomorrow led to organisers making the difficult decision to cancel the event.

Organisers said "it is not a decision we made lightly", but the safety and wellbeing of the community, volunteers, performers, traders, and supporters is their top priority.
Newquay Pride was due to take place at The Crescent from 10am until 8pm tomorrow, with the annual march through the town, family-friendly entertainment, community stalls, and support groups scheduled.
Despite the cancellation, the official Pride Party at Rattler Beach House this evening (Friday, August 29) will go ahead. Entry is free, and it is open from 7pmuntil 1am.
Cornwall Pride added that it is fully committed to bringing the event back to Newquay "later this year". While a new date has not been confirmed, Cornwall Pride said it will issue an update with a new date.
Penzance Pride is scheduled for September 12 at Penzance Promenade from 11am until 6pm.
