Crash on A39 Near Bude Causes Traffic Chaos

The A39 has reopened near Bude after a crash this morning, August 21. Both directions at Treskinnick Cross were experiencing slow traffic due to the incident between Teskinnick Cross and Edgar Road at Wainhouse Corner.

The crash was first reported by traffic monitoring site Inrix at 6.21am on Friday. Photos sent to CornwallLive showed cars being forced to take alternative routes, causing major queues. One member of the public said queues lasted around 45 minutes to an hour before traffic began moving again.

The road had cleared and traffic returned to normal by 10.58am.

A member of the public described the scene: "Me and a few others got cars turned around. At the other end some people were going into a farmers field. It was about 45 minutes to an hour of people getting stuck.

"We managed to get everyone turned around.

"There was a car broken down on the A39 coast road and another at the original place, their clutch had gone.

"It's been an eventful morning, I'm not sure what happened with the crash on the A39."

The A39 in both directions has now reopened. Traffic has returned to normal and the incident has been cleared.

Inrix reported at 9.37am: "A39 in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident between Treskinnick Cross (Treskinnick Cross) and Trewint turn off (Trewint). Since around 05:00."

Inrix also reported at 7.28am: "A39 in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident between Treskinnick Cross (Treskinnick Cross) and Trewint turn off (Trewint). Note change of location. Originally reported to Edgar Road."
