Three people are dead after a three-vehicle collision in South Glengarry Township on Thursday, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Officers responded to the collision just after 9:45 p.m. Thursday on County Road 17 near County Road 27, OPP said in a media release Friday morning.
Three vehicles were involved, an OPP spokesperson told CBC News.
A 61-year-old person and a 54-year-old person in the first vehicle, both from South Glengarry, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
An 18-year-old person from North Glengarry was in the second vehicle and was also pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Two other people were in the third vehicle and were both transported to hospital by police. The spokesperson did not provide details about the severity of their injuries, or their ages or genders.
OPP said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
As of 8 a.m. on Friday, County Road 17 in South Glengarry was still closed in both directions between County Road 27 and Fairview Road, OPP reported.
The corner of County Road 17 and County Road 27 is about 16 kilometres northeast of downtown Cornwall and around 87 kilometres southeast of downtown Ottawa.
