Police in Teignbridge have targeted deer poaching, illegal firearms and rural crime during a week of action.
PCSO Saul Bunce and PC George Miller carried out Operation Halfmoon patrols. They stop-checked more than 20 vehicles and visited farms where organised gangs have stolen livestock and machinery.
They gathered intelligence on people believed to be involved in poaching and made referrals to Firearms Licensing. People who were using firearms for lawful vermin control were also identified after being detected with a thermal imager.
During the vehicle stop and search patrols, the officers identified a car believed to be involved in County Lines drug supply.
Police say that, because of the intermittent nature of wildlife crime, the patrols will be continued randomly. Anyone with information on an ongoing crime is asked to call 999.
