Ed Buckingham has given himself 39 hours to complete the challenge.
A Cornish adventurer and author will attempt to run 100 miles across East Cornwall this weekend to raise money for a local charity. Ed Buckingham will take on the challenge this Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, in aid of the East Cornwall Search and Rescue Team.
He will start in Looe, head north to Boscastle and then Padstow, travel south to Fowey, and follow the coast path back to the start. The route includes 13 support stops and two river crossings.
Ed comes from a background of hill and coastal walkers and is no stranger to endurance tests. He was the first Cornishman to climb the highest summit on each of the world's seven continents. In 2013 he received the Cornish Gorsedh award for Exceptional Endeavour for being the first person to raise the St Piran flag on the summit of Mount Everest.
This weekend's challenge will raise funds for a charity that provides an inland search and rescue service for lost, missing and injured people across East Cornwall. The volunteer crew is on call 24/7, 365 days a year, ready to respond in some of the most challenging terrain in the Duchy. They cover rural areas and also respond to incidents in urban environments from St Austell to Bude.
Having taken out helicopter repatriation cover on past trips without ever needing to use it, Ed hopes to help those who get into distress and need help from their local rescue team.
