Cornwall Rural Community Charity (CRCC) is marking its 80th anniversary with an 80-mile fundraising walk along the South West Coast Path this September.
The challenge, 80 Miles for 80 Years, will see members of CRCC’s Rural and Coastal team walk from Looe to Cadgwith over five days (September 14–18), celebrating eight decades of community support while raising awareness of the vital work the charity continues to deliver across Cornwall.
Since 1946, CRCC has worked alongside communities across the Duchy, helping people and places thrive through services ranging from carers’ support and community transport to rural housing, education, training and environmental projects. Last year alone, the charity supported more than 14,500 unpaid carers, helped over 5,600 residents access support, delivered more than £4 million in funding into communities and secured almost £1 million for Cornwall’s fishing communities.
A team of four walkers will take on the full route, joined by trustees, supporters and community members along different sections. The walk begins at 10am on Monday, September 14, from CRCC’s offices in Looe, before continuing along the south coast with stops in Fowey, Mevagissey, Carne Beach and Helford Passage, finishing in Cadgwith on the final day.
Throughout the journey, the team will meet individuals, groups and communities who have benefited from CRCC’s support, highlighting the impact the charity has made over the past 80 years.

Amelia, a Fishing Animateur and one of the walkers, said: “I’m excited to take part in the walk and meet members of the community who have received support from CRCC.
"The Fishing Animateurs have helped many fishermen and fishing communities across Cornwall to receive grant funding – from safety equipment for small-scale fishermen to harbour pontoon projects that benefit entire communities.”
