An escaped python has been successfully rescued from a tree by a member of the public, according to firefighters.
The snake, believed to be a non-venomous carpet python, was retrieved at about 10:00 BST from a tree at Plymouth Hoe near the seafront. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was alerted on Wednesday.
"The person had used a ladder to climb a tree the snake was located in and took it down. The snake has been sent to the local vets," a spokesperson for the fire service said.
Crews have been stood down.
