Armed police arrested a man in Newquay on Friday afternoon on suspicion of a firearms offence. The man, in his twenties, was detained at an address in Higher Tower Road at around 1.35pm and remains in police custody.
The operation involved armed officers, additional police officers, and dog handlers. A police cordon remains in place while enquiries continue.
Eyewitness Daniel Rabbitts said: “I saw an armed response team, with dog handlers make a few arrests. “It looked like a dog was also taken away. I don’t know what it was all about. “Police cars initially blocked the road but it was reopened within the hour. It was quite exciting for Newquay.”
