Outdoor swimming pools and lidos have seen visitor numbers rise this summer, with some venues enjoying their busiest season in years. Bovey Tracey Pool in Devon reported a 20% to 25% increase in demand this year. Plymouth's Tinside Lido welcomed 60,000 visitors by the end of July, beating its previous seasonal record for the 21st century. Bude Sea Pool in Cornwall said it reached maximum capacity on more days than before, while Mount Wise Pools in Plymouth recorded a 17.6% rise in visitors compared with the same period last year. The venues attributed the boost to warm, dry weather and heatwaves, which encouraged more people to swim and take part in outdoor activities.
