Students in one of Cornwall's most rural areas have been "left high and dry" by changes to bus routes.
The Stagecoach South West route, run under contract to Cornwall College Group, previously travelled from Pendeen in West Cornwall to Duchy College Rosewarne in Camborne. It was scrapped at the end of term, leaving students in remote areas to make their way to Penzance hours earlier for alternative transport.
A tendered bus service for Truro and Penwith College students living in Falmouth has also been scrapped completely. Parents say removing that service has caused "chaos."
Jasmine Harvey, from St Just, said her 17-year-old daughter now leaves home three hours before college starts to get there on time because of the Stagecoach change.
"I just think it's shocking that so many kids relied on that service to then just be told 'we're not going to run it anymore' and a lot of them will just have been left high and dry," she said.
The CC1 bus used to run through Pendeen and St Just but now starts in Penzance. Her daughter must catch a bus at 6.40am to Penzance, then wait over 30 minutes for the connecting college bus.
"I just think it’s a shocking turn of events really," Ms Harvey added. "This is one bus a day during term time that they are running – it's not a bus that runs all day and ends at Duchy College and it was a busy bus."
