Police Investigate Death of Man Found in Truro Car Park

The body of a man has been found on the ground floor of a multi-storey car park.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called by the ambulance service to Moorfield Car Park in Truro, Cornwall at about 10:45 BST on Monday.

A 41-year-old man, from the Truro area, was found dead inside the car park. His next-of-kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

"Significant inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death, which is currently being treated as unexplained", the force said.

A cordon remains in place around the closed ground floor while forensic examinations and searches are carried out.

Officers said they were also reviewing CCTV footage to establish the man's movements prior to his death.

Det Insp Jon Bray said: "Our inquiries are at an early stage as we work to establish the circumstances surrounding this man's death.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have information or witnessed anything suspicious in the area between the afternoon of Friday 14 August and 10:45 BST on Monday 17 August.

"There will be an ongoing police presence in the area while inquiries continue and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak with officers at the scene."

Anyone with a vehicle within the cordoned part of the car park is advised to speak to a police officer at the scene.

The upper floors of the car park have been closed since May 2024 following an inspection that found concerns regarding the structure.

The outside parking area remains open as usual.
