A Cornwall-based lettings and property management agency will open its second office this week, marking a major step in the company’s continued growth across the Duchy.
Lang Llewellyn & Co will open its new office at 11a High Cross Street, St Austell, following its acquisition of established lettings business RPM Lettings earlier this year.
To celebrate the opening and introduce the team to the community, the agency will hold a launch event at White River Place Shopping Centre this Friday (August 28) from 9am to 3pm, alongside Cornwall’s Rewind Radio.
The Cornwall’s Rewind Radio team will be at White River Place with the trailer, playing music throughout the day, with seating for visitors and a coffee machine for anyone who would like to stop by, meet the Lang Llewellyn team and have an informal chat. Branded merchandise from both organisations will also be available.
Lang Llewellyn & Co says the new High Cross Street office will be open throughout the event, with staff on hand to welcome visitors, show them around and answer questions.
Following the acquisition of RPM Lettings in February, the RPM portfolio is predominantly based in and around St Austell, making a permanent office in the town a key part of the company’s plans.
Elliott Newman has been appointed to head up the St Austell office. He will act as a local point of contact for landlords and tenants, supported by the wider resources and expertise of Lang Llewellyn & Co.
Charlotte Rayner, Director of Lang Llewellyn & Co, said: “Opening our second office in St Austell is a really exciting milestone for us.
“Since acquiring RPM Lettings earlier this year, it has always been important that we establish ourselves properly within the town and become part of the local community.
“We don’t want this simply to be another office with our name above the door. We want to give landlords, tenants and local people the chance to meet the people behind the business. Having a local office means there’s an experienced, approachable team here that people can pop in and talk to when they need us.”
Charlotte said Elliott’s appointment reflects the company’s commitment to personal service: “He understands both the local market and the importance we place on delivering a personal, professional service.”
Speaking about Friday’s launch, she added: “We thought the best way to mark the opening was to get out into the town and meet people, so we’re really looking forward to joining Cornwall’s Rewind Radio at White River Place.
“Whether you’re a landlord with a question about the changes happening in the private rented sector, a tenant, or you simply want to come and say hello, have a coffee and meet the team, everyone is welcome.”
The launch comes at a significant time for the private rented sector, with landlords adjusting to major changes under the Renters’ Rights Act. Lang Llewellyn & Co believes having experienced, qualified professionals available locally will become increasingly important as landlords navigate the new regulatory landscape.
The business is a Propertymark member agency, with a strong emphasis on professional standards, compliance and ongoing training.
Chris and Julie, the sellers of RPM Lettings, said: “With so much change taking place within the lettings industry, we wanted to know that our landlords and tenants would continue to be looked after by an experienced, professional agency that takes compliance and customer service seriously.
“The Renters’ Rights Act brings significant changes for landlords, and having a knowledgeable agent who keeps up to date with legislation and professional standards is going to be more important than ever.
“Lang Llewellyn & Co shared our values and commitment to looking after clients, and being a Propertymark member agency gave us further confidence that RPM clients would be in safe hands for the future.”
The St Austell opening follows a successful period for Lang Llewellyn & Co. The independent Cornwall agency has recently received Best in Post Code recognition from the ESTAS, the national property industry awards based on verified feedback from landlords and tenants and has been shortlisted for the main ESTAS Awards later this year.
