The A30near Yarcombe has reopened following an accident on Monday, August 31. The incident, which took place on the turn off to the A303, caused hours of queueing traffic.
Traffic monitoring software INRIX confirmed the closure at 2.15pm with the statement: "A30 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from Taunton turn off to the A303." Satellite cameras showed heavy congestion on both the A30 and the A303 leading up towards Newcott.
The road reopened in both directions at approximately 4.15pm. INRIX then confirmed: "A30 in both directions re-opened, traffic easing, accident cleared from Taunton turn off to the A303."
Traffic eased on the A30 heading West of Yarcombe, with green representing little to no traffic, as captured at approximately 4.10pm. Earlier, heavy traffic was reported on the A30 heading West of Yarcombe at around 3.45pm, and on the A30 leading North from Honiton at approximately 3.25pm. Traffic eased on the A30 leading out of Yarcombe at around 3.20pm, with yellow representing moderate to mild traffic. However, the A30 leading West out of Yarcombe remained heavily congested, and motorists were advised to avoid the A30 through Yarcombe until further notice. Heavy congestion was also seen on the A30 and A303 by satellite during the afternoon.
