South West tech businesses sought for pioneering growth programme

Tech South West is currently seeking South West-based tech businesses that are primed for growth to participate in its innovative “Growth Forge” accelerator programme. The programme includes a face-to-face Growth Day scheduled to take place in Bristol in June.

Delivered by Tech South West in collaboration with expert partners in various fields such as finance, sales, leadership, cyber, law, marketing, talent, and technology, Growth Forge aims to provide tailored support and guidance to tech companies looking to expand.

The upcoming Growth Day, set to be held at Future Space Bristol on 25 June, will bring together participating companies, as well as the 30+ firms from the inaugural Growth Day held in March. This event allows for shared learning, interactive workshops, and valuable networking opportunities for businesses facing similar growth challenges.

The programme is particularly suited for later stage companies with defined growth objectives, whether it be expanding overseas, enhancing innovation, increasing positive impact, or strengthening their brand presence. Scale-ups and firms in search of investment opportunities are also encouraged to participate.

Feedback from participants of the Growth Forge programme has been overwhelmingly positive.

Joseph Babbage, Director of Somerset-based healthtech startup DataHarmony, said of the Growth Forge programme: “It’s been a great opportunity to make new connections who are experts in the areas we need help with. It’s also been very nice to meet other startups in a similar field to us.”

Marko Zerdin, Founder & CEO of Devon-based Configo Software Ltd, said:

“Excellent range of experts and participants, forcing a welcome structure to my thinking about various relevant areas of the business.”

A diverse range of tech specialisms, including software development, wellness and health, robotics, financial technology (fintech), agricultural innovation, aviation, and artificial intelligence, are already represented in the programme.

At the core of Growth Forge is Tech South West’s proprietary 360-degree business assessment tool. This tool helps identify key areas for improvement and development within a business, such as intellectual property, financials, brand identity, route-to-market strategy, recruitment, sales, or risk management. Personalised business support and consultations with partners and mentors are then provided to address the identified priority areas.

Key supporters of the programme include Bishop Fleming, Ashfords, Sandler, Program, Howden, Microsoft, Optimising IT, Innovate UK Business Growth, EVO Talent, and independent Growth Coaches with expertise in business consultancy, investment, marketing, pitching, and other vital skills.

Participants like Gabriela Isas, Founder & CEO of Cornwall-based fintech Good With, have found Growth Forge to be instrumental in providing a space to think strategically and plan for future milestones. Niki Davies, Director and Head of Marketing at Tech Cornwall, highlighted the strong network, collaborative opportunities, and supportive community fostered by the programme.
