Firefighters from across Cornwall were called to a significant cabin fire on a boat in Polruan yesterday afternoon. Crews from Polruan, Looe, Fowey and Bodmin attended the scene. On arrival, smoke was issuing from the 15-metre vessel, which was on land. Firefighters entered the boat wearing breathing apparatus.
Two firefighters went inside with a main jet while wearing breathing apparatus. A second safety jet was set up outside. The fire was located in the accommodation area and was believed to be out. Crews monitored the vessel using a thermal imaging camera and gas detector to ensure temperatures continued to fall.
Firefighters remained on scene to confirm the fire had fully extinguished and had not spread into hidden voids within the boat.
