Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage. A tractor fire is ongoing at a farm near Bittadon in North Devon, with fire crews in attendance after a large plume of smoke was spotted in the sky.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called at 1.43pm on September 21 and sent one appliance to the blaze in a field.
A spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.43pm to a fire involving a tractor in a field at a farm near Bittadon. We have sent one appliance and the incident is ongoing."
The incident was later described as a bonfire, which was put out by the landowner from a water bowser. Video footage filmed nearby shows black smoke pluming into the sky.
A witness said: "My partner saw it about 13.30, it was so intense he thought something might have crashed." They added: "It"s just fading away now but we are miles away from it."
