Cornwall has officially claimed a world record for the most cream teas consumed in one sitting.
A total of 2,438 people took part at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge on Saturday 19 September 2026, comfortably surpassing the previous record set in Beijing, where 1,088 participants took part.
The event was about more than scones and jam. Johnny Cowling kept spirits high throughout, joined by Cornwall's Rock Choir, who performed a selection of crowd-pleasing hits.
