A Cornish charity is asking the public to help break a Guinness World Record for the largest cream tea party. The attempt will take place at Cornwall Hospice Care's Great Cornish Cream Tea event on Saturday, September 19 at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge.
The event marks the charity's 45th anniversary and aims to bring together thousands of people. Cornwall Hospice Care hopes it will become the largest cream tea party ever recorded. The current record for the largest cream tea party held in one location stands at 1,088 people, set by Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service in Xiamen, China in November 2019.
Alongside the record attempt, the event will celebrate Cornish culture, community spirit and the joy of sharing food and conversation. It will also raise funds to support the charity's work with people with terminal illnesses and their families.
Comedian Josh Widdicombe has donated his time to support the cause by launching the event.

"The Great Cornish Cream Tea is about celebrating community. Cream teas are such a cherished part of our culture, and we wanted to create something that honours that tradition while making a real difference for our Mount Edgcumbe and St Julia's Hospices.
