A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident in Plymouth.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to the North Hill area of the city at about 19:20 BST on Tuesday. The force said it was reported a man had sustained life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital.
A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in a public place, police said. He remains in police custody.
Inquiries are continuing at the scene, and a police cordon was in place on Tuesday.
