An outdoor pool's season has been extended by two weeks to give more children the chance to learn swimming and water safety skills.
Plymouth Active Leisure said Tinside Lido was due to close on Sunday but would remain open until 27 September after one of its "busiest and most successful summers in recent memory".
It said it hoped the pool, which overlooks Plymouth Sound in Devon, would record more than 100,000 visits by the end of the season with extra sessions offered to schools.
Rhys Jones from Plymouth Active Leisure said the lido was "more than a swimming pool" and extending the season could help create "a generation of children who are more confident, active and connected to the water".
The extended programme includes school swimming sessions and Swim Safe activities covering cold water awareness, floating techniques and staying safe around coastal waters.
The programme came as national figures showed almost one in three children left primary school unable to swim 25 metres (82ft).
Councillor Kate Taylor, cabinet member for sport, said extending the pool's season, which started in May, would open up "more opportunities for young people".
Taylor added: "It's been an extraordinary summer and we want to make it last just a little bit longer."
Plymouth City Council said it would not enforce parking regulations before 08:00 BST near the lido, allowing early swimmers to park without being charged.
Councillor John Stephens, cabinet member for strategic planning and transport, said this was a "pragmatic approach" after swimmers raised concerns about parking costs.
It currently costs £2.80 an hour to park in the area, but Reform UK councillor Helen Kelly suggested an annual permit costing between £80 and £100 for regular swimmers, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
The council said introducing special rates would need wider consideration because other groups also used the Hoe and changes would require public consultation.
