A major emergency response was launched following reports of concern for welfare in Paignton.
Around 4.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 1), the coastguard helicopter was called to Roundham Head in Paignton for a man who was halfway down the cliff.
Ambulance and fire crews also responded.
A witness at the time of the rescue said: "Air ambulance and coastguard helicopter in attendance plus coastguard crews, police and land ambulances."
Police confirmed that a man was rescued from halfway down the cliff and taken to hospital to be checked over.
A Coastguard spokesperson said: "HM Coastguard was informed of an incident at Roundham Head, Paignton, at about 4.30pm on 1 September and sent an HM Coastguard helicopter as well as Brixham and Torbay Coastguard Rescue Teams.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, Devon and Cornwall Police, and South Western Ambulance Service also attended."
Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We were called at around 5pm on Tuesday 1 September following a concern for welfare for a man in the Roundham Head area of Paignton."
