Newquay AFC's three senior men's teams had a mixed day on Saturday.
The firsts travelled to Somerset to face Street in the Western League Premier Division without boss Shaun Middleton, who was away at a wedding. Despite his absence, they proved too strong for the hosts.
Winger Tom Shepherd opened the scoring on 17 minutes. He later had to go in goal during injury time after goalkeeper Shaun Semmens was sin-binned. Louis Price, who scored a hat-trick against Cullompton Rangers the previous week, added the second just two minutes after the break. Former Falmouth and Mousehole winger Tim Nixon scored his first goal on 50 minutes, following up Price's saved penalty to dispatch the rebound.
Street pulled one back in injury time through Chris Barrett's lob, but Newquay eased to victory, bouncing back from their recent defeat at Saltash United.
Newquay now begin a run of six straight home games in all competitions, starting with Saturday's visit from bottom side Wellington. That is followed by a first round clash with ambitious Penzance in the Cornwall Senior Cup three days later.
The reserves, top of the St Piran League Premier Division East table with nine wins and one defeat after promotion, visited Mullion in the Cornwall Intermediate Cup. They went down 3-2 at Clifden Parc despite Ben Shaw's brace, with Phil Cattran scoring the winner in the 89th minute.
The thirds, known as Newquay Under 23s, remain second in Division Two East of the St Piran League after a 3-0 win over visiting Week St Mary. James Deacy, Josh Stratton and Alfie Treweek were all on target.
