A man has been charged following a reported theft at a Tesco store in Penzance over the weekend. Police were called to the shop on Market Jew Street after reports that alcohol was taken on Saturday, September 19.
A witness at the scene told CornwallLive: "Police car and van at the scene. Then another police van arrived."
Michael Mortimore, 38, from Peterborough, has been charged with possession of a Class A drug and theft from a shop. He was remanded to appear at Truro Magistrates' Court today, Monday, September 21.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Michael Mortimore, 38, from Peterborough, has been charged with possession of a Class A drug and theft from a shop. It follows an alleged incident which saw alcohol taken from a shop in Market Jew Street in Penzance on the afternoon of Saturday 19 September."
