A fire broke out at a two-storey bungalow in Lelant Downs on Wednesday evening, September 23. Five crews from Penzance, St Ives, Tolvaddon, Hayle and Helston were called to the scene at around 6.40pm.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said gas and electricity to the property were isolated, and the road outside was closed by Cornwall Highways. Around five hours after the property fire was reported, the fire service confirmed it had been extinguished. No injuries are thought to have occurred, and the cause has not been confirmed.
In a statement, the fire service said: "Crews are in attendance at a residential fire in Lelant Downs. Crews report a two storey building well alight and are working with the support of two whole time officers to bring the fire under control. The incident ground has been sectorised and the property involved is a two storey bungalow, the fire is involving the top floor. Firefighters are using six breathing apparatus and main jets. Gas and electricity have been isolated to the building and the road outside has been closed by Cornwall Highways."
In an update at 11.30pm, they said: "The fire is now confirmed out. Crew members remain on scene monitoring hot spots and damping down where required."
