A family-run holidaypark operator has beaten major brands such as Butlin's, Parkdean and Forest Holidays to rank among the top five across the whole of the UK. A Which? survey gave the Waterside Holiday Group a score of 80%, and it achieved a rare five-star score for food and drink. The operator was awarded four stars for cleanliness, customer service, accommodation, facilities and overall value for money.
Waterside Holiday Group is owned by the Jacobs family and has operated since 1963, passed down through the generations. It is currently run by the granddaughters of the original owners.
It has four sites, one in Looe, Tregoad Holiday Park, which is close to the beach. The other three are in Weymouth, Dorset: Bowleaze Cove Holiday Park & Spa, Chesil Beach Holiday Park and Osmington Mills Lodge Park.
Tregoad Holiday Park is set in 55 acres of countryside and overlooks Looe Bay. The site is dog-friendly and has a wide range of lodges, cottages, camping pods and other accommodation options. It also has a Victorian manor house with seven bedrooms that sleeps up to 18 for those travelling with a big group.
It offers an indoor pool, and there is a spa area with sauna and steam room for adults to relax in. Kids can join the Adventure Rangers and enjoy all sorts of outdoorsy activities, or you can book archery, disc golf and other fun things to do. The park also has lots of walking trails, and you can even go pole fishing in the lake.
The site has glowing reviews on Google, with a 4.6 star rating out of five. A recent review enthused: "This place is amazing, we had a super lodge with a hot tub which are fantastic, and it is a very quiet place to stay. It has an on-site pool and entertainment room which only has selected nights for music. Various beers and food are served. This is our second year stopping and we should have been going home Monday, but we rebooked until Friday."
They were not the only one to praise the park's cleanliness and facilities. Another said: "Wow! This was by far the best holiday I’ve had in Cornwall. Beautiful clean caravan with everything we could have wanted. The view was amazing and the park so well kept. Our caravan was in a perfect location and the staff were amazing."
Based on a survey of 2,221 Which? Connect panel members and the general public conducted in February and March 2026.
