Device Found on Looe Beach Destroyed in Controlled Explosion

A suspected ordnance was reported at Hannafore Beach in Looe on Sunday, September 13 at about 2.35pm. It was safely disposed of in a controlled explosion by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team the following day at about 2.30pm. Looe and Polruan Coastguard Teams put a cordon in place to support the operation. A video shows a plume of black smoke rising into the air as seagulls fly away. A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “Suspected ordnance reported at Hannafore Beach, Looe, at about 2.35pm on 13 September was safely disposed of in a controlled explosion by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team at about 2.30pm on 14 September, supported with a cordon by Looe and Polruan Coastguard Rescue Teams."
