A cyclist has died in hospital after being attacked while riding his bike in Plymouth. Police say the 59-year-old local man was assaulted in George Place, Stonehouse, on Tuesday, May 26, at around 9.20pm. He was seriously injured and died in hospital on Sunday, July 26.
Devon and Cornwall Police have arrested a 34-year-old Plymouth woman on suspicion of manslaughter. She has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Officers are now trying to find members of the public who helped the cyclist after the attack. They are particularly keen to hear from the occupants of a blue Mercedes which stopped near the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.
The force said in a statement: "We are appealing for witnesses who assisted an injured cyclist in Plymouth who later died in hospital.
"Detectives are investigating a report that a 59-year-old local man was assaulted while on his bike in George Place, Stonehouse, on Tuesday 26 May, at around 9.20pm.
"He sustained serious injuries and subsequently died on Sunday 26 July. Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding both the incident and his death.
"A 34-year-old Plymouth woman has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. She has been released on police bail will enquiries continue.
"We are now appealing for help to trace members of the public who assisted the cyclist after the incident and are particularly keen to hear from occupants of a blue Mercedes which stopped near the scene.
