Dawn French has pleaded guilty to driving her Mini Clubman Cooper S Sport at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Plymouth. The comedian has been given a six-month driving ban, her fourth speeding offence in three years. The 68-year-old was sentenced at Plymouth Magistrates Court on September 7, though she reportedly did not attend the hearing in person. French, who is Chancellor of Falmouth University and known for playing Geraldine Granger in The Vicar of Dibley and for the double act French and Saunders with Jennifer Saunders, already had nine points on her licence. The latest offence, which took place on June 11 last year, brought her total to 12 points. District Judge Stuart Smith also ordered her to pay a £600 fine, a £240 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
