The chief constable of Devon and Cornwall Police, James Vaughan, has agreed to remain in his post until 2028. He was brought in to provide stability during a period of leadership challenges.
Vaughan was appointed on an interim basis in December 2024 after the suspension of acting chief constable Jim Colwell, who was later cleared of gross misconduct allegations.
