Blue Brook Water Prompts Bathing Warning

Blue Brook Water Prompts Bathing Warning

People have been urged to avoid bathing in a brook after its water turned blue.

The Environment Agency (EA) said it was investigating a pollution incident at Littleham Brook in Exmouth, Devon. It suspected the pollution came from an industrial source and had classed it as a category one incident, the most serious, because of the "severe environmental impact and the significant time the brook will need to recover".

A spokesperson said the EA was in contact with East Devon District Council, the UK Health Security Agency and the Animal and Plant Health Agency over the incident. Their advice was to "avoid contact with Littleham Brook until we advise otherwise".

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Environment Agency.
