Two arrests have been made after an assault in Cullompton.
The attack took place in the St Andrews Estate on Saturday, August 15.
Devon and Cornwall Police say one arrest was made on Saturday evening, following the attack. The suspect was released on bail.
A second arrest, a 16-year-old boy, was arrested by Cullompton Neighbourhood Police on Monday, August 17.
Police say officers are aware of video footage of the attack circulating on social media and have asked members of the public not to speculate on the incident but to hand evidence over to police.
In two separate Facebook posts, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are aware that footage of an assault that happened in Cullompton on Saturday 15 August is circulating on social media and would like to reassure the public that officers are actively investigating the incident.
"One suspect was arrested on Saturday evening and was released on bail, and our investigations are ongoing. We ask that footage is not shared further, as doing so may impact our investigation.
"We are also aware of comments suggesting people may try to seek justice on behalf of the victim. We ask that these people please keep themselves safe and leave the matter to the police.
"Anyone who has information about the incident and is yet to come forward, is asked to contact investigating officers by filling in a form on our website or by calling 101 and quoting reference 50260217806."
A second post continued: "Further to our earlier post around an assault that occurred in Cullompton on Saturday.
"The Neighbourhood policing team at Cullompton have today (Monday 17th August 2026) arrested a 16 year-old male, the second arrest in connection with an assault at St Andrews Estate on Saturday 15th August 2026.
"The Policing team are well supported by investigators from other departments and officers are committed to collecting all available evidence.
"The local team are aware of social media circulations and users are asked not to speculate on events, but to hand all available evidence to the investigators, either through the Devon & Cornwall Police website or by calling 101 and quoting reference 50260217806. All other enquiries on the matter can be directed to the local Neighbourhood Policing Team by email [email protected]."
