The A30 was closed after a crash between a tractor and a van this morning (Thursday, August 20). Devon and Cornwall Police said it was called to the scene at around 1.35am. The crash happened on the westbound carriageway of the A30 near Sourton, Okehampton. The crash involved a tractor and a van and there was a resulting oil spill. Both drivers were taken to hospital and their injuries are not thought to be serious.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a van and a tractor on the westbound carriageway of the A30 near Sourton, Okehampton, at around 1.35am on Thursday 20 August.
"A road closure was put in place while emergency services dealt with the scene.
"Both drivers were taken to hospital, but their injuries were not thought to be serious injuries.
"The road closure was handed over to highways soon after 5am."
National Highways said the road was closed throughout the morning due to a "large oil spill" and that a jetting team were on scene to clean the road surface. There were delays of 10 minutes and one mile of congestion. A diversion was in place for westbound traffic. Traffic monitoring site Inrix said the road reopened shortly after 10am but that delays remain.
