A pub in Truro that calls itself a 'proper boozer' with a great atmosphere and live music is closing down. Central Bar, based in the former Royal British Legion Club on St Mary's Street, has shut its doors for good, according to a post on Facebook.
Landlady Jeanette Pooley announced the news, writing: "After much thought and with heavy hearts, the difficult decision has been made to close our doors permanently.
"We want to say a huge thank you to every single person who has supported us, walked through our doors, shared a drink, danced, laughed, celebrated and made memories with us.
"It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of so many special occasions and moments over the years, and we will always be incredibly grateful for the friendships and memories we’ve made along the way.
"To our amazing customers, friends, my fantastic staff and everyone who has supported us thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Jeanette & Team Central."
Regulars and weekend visitors reacted with disappointment. Darren commented: "I’ve made so many friends through this pub. Kinda like a 2nd family where I knew if I needed a chat about things the community in Central were always there for me."
The William IV pub also expressed sympathy in a comment, saying: "It’s sad to see another Truro business close its doors. Thank you for being part of what makes our city special, from one hospitality business to another, we wish the team the very best."
