Police Find Rubbish and Soiled Underwear on Bodmin Moor

Police have expressed disappointment after finding piles of rubbish, including a broken tent, bags of food and soiled underwear, left on Bodmin Moor.

Pictures released by Liskeard Police show the mess discovered at Gold Diggins, near Minions.

Several people were found with cooking equipment that was considered a fire risk. Two drivers were also dealt with for driving across the moor, contravening section 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.

In a Facebook post, Liskeard Police said: "Another disappointing day on the moors. Several people were found to have cooking equipment which is a fire risk and as you can see a large amount of rubbish was left at the site including a broken tent, broken chair, bags of food, soiled underwear and other clothing.

"Only those who have authorisation are allowed to drive across the moor and these people actually passed a no entry sign to access moorland.

"In partnership with the landowners we have placed boulders where people were accessing the moor but this is obviously not a deterrent."

The post ended with a plea for people to "please respect the countryside and take your rubbish and clothing with you".
