A brand-new play park is set to open next week, and the community is invited to join the celebration.
Newquay Town Council has confirmed that the Mount Wise Play Park will open on Wednesday, September 2, after final safety checks are completed.
Built over the summer by playground specialists Wicksteed, the park was shaped through extensive consultation with local residents. It is designed to be modern, accessible and inclusive, with equipment suitable for children of all ages and abilities.
The council says the space aims to provide “exciting, safe and imaginative play opportunities” while encouraging families to spend more time outdoors.
This project forms a key part of Newquay Town Council’s wider plans to transform Mount Wise Gardens into a more vibrant, welcoming and accessible community space.
Central to the scheme is a £150,000 investment, funded through support from Boardmasters and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) contributions from developers.
Newquay Town Council says it is excited to open the new space and celebrate “this important addition to Newquay’s public areas”.
Residents and visitors are warmly invited to join Newquay Town Council for the official opening of the new play park.
Mayor of Newquay, Cllr Drew Creek, will cut the ribbon, and free refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon.
