Newquay Minor Injury Unit is closed today, Monday 17 August 2026, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed.
The main hospital remains open, but the unit will stay closed for the rest of the day because of staffing pressures.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said: “We understand this is frustrating, but this is due to staffing pressures. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
Other minor injury units across Cornwall remain open, and the trust is urging anyone needing treatment to check MIU waiting times for up-to-date information.
Residents can also speak to a local pharmacist, who can provide treatment and prescribe medication, if needed, for seven common conditions without the need to see a GP.
Pharmacies can also provide oral contraception without a prescription or GP appointment. Emergency contraception is now available for free, and pharmacists can discuss longer-term options at the same time.
Pharmacists will signpost patients to other local services where necessary.
