Mid Devon District Council has relaunched a grant scheme for businesses and organisations in Crediton, Cullompton and Tiverton town centres. The scheme, now called the Shopfront Refresh Scheme, offers grants of up to £2,500, covering up to 70% of eligible project costs.
The grant supports the upgrade, repair and refurbishment of shopfronts, helping businesses or organisations show what makes them distinctive while maintaining or improving the historic look and feel of the town centre. Eligible works may include new or improved signage, minor external repairs, exterior painting and decoration, and, if applicable, the restoration of traditional shopfront features.
Scheme guidance, town centre boundary maps and access to the online application form are available through the Council’s Let’s Talk Mid Devon portal.
Businesses and organisations considering an application are encouraged to contact the Council’s Economic Development team to discuss their proposal before applying at [email protected].
Councillor Steve Keable, Mid Devon District Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Regeneration, said:
“Our town centres play a vital role in supporting our communities and local economy. The Shopfront Refresh Scheme will help businesses and organisations make visible improvements to their shopfronts, and our town centres. Interested businesses and organisations are encouraged to get in touch and explore how the grant could support them.”
For the purposes of the scheme, a “shopfront” is defined as any part of a town centre building that is visible to the public and relates to the business use of the premises. This may include rear or side elevations where they are at street level.
