A man has been named and charged after an incident in Helston. The alleged incident happened in the Cunnack Close area in the early hours of Sunday, August 16, according to Devon and Cornwall Police.
John Hale, aged 38, has been charged with intentional stragulation, intentional suffocation, threatening a person with an offensive weapon/bladed article/corrosive substance in a private place, and assault by beating. He is also charged with making threats to kill, assault by beating of an emergency worker, namely a police officer, and wounding with intent.
Hale, from Jubilee Close in St Columb, appeared at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 17 and was remanded into custody. He is due to attend Truro Crown Court for trial on September 15.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “John Hale, 38, from Jubilee Close, St Columb, has been charged with wounding with intent, intentional suffocation, intentional strangulation, threats to kill, threatening a person with an offensive weapon/bladed article/corrosive substance in a private place, and assault.
“He appeared at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on 17 August.
“It follows an alleged incident in the Cunnack Close area of Helston in the early hours of 16 August.”
