Tributes to Dolly Parton are pouring in far and wide this evening after the announcement of her death at the age of 80.
Her death was confirmed on Instagram by her nephew Bryan Seaver, speaking on behalf of the Parton and Owens family. In the video, Mr Seaver said Dolly, whose real name was Rebecca Parton Dean, passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee.
“Sadness lives with us, not with Dolly,” he said. “Dolly lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus.”
Famed for hits including 9 to 5, Jolene and Islands in the Stream, Dolly was a globally celebrated singer‑songwriter, actress, philanthropist and businesswoman.
Tributes have been pouring in from across the world. Here in Cornwall, people have also been sharing their memories and messages.
“Ohhh Dolly back with Carl again. Dont rest in peace – dance and sing every day,” one person wrote. Another added: “Aww Dolly, you was a legend.”
