Brits Yearn for Change: Top 20 Aspects of Life They Desire to Alter, from Fitness to Social Lives and Homes

A significant number of Brits are ready to overhaul nearly every aspect of their lives, including their homes, social lives, fitness levels, and even their partners, according to a study of 2,000 adults.

The research found that 59 percent of participants are in need of a change in their lives, with 61 percent expressing a feeling of being stuck in a rut.

Common areas of life that people are keen to alter or improve in the near future include their hairstyle, mobile phone, and car.

Surprisingly, 12 percent admitted to desiring a different partner, while 30 percent are actively seeking a new job.

The survey was commissioned by Virgin Media O2 to support its Switch Up offering, which allows customers to change their mobile devices whenever they like.

A spokesperson stated, “It’s easy to continue through life without actively seeking change and shaking things up. While staying in one’s comfort zone isn’t always negative, there may be a whole range of benefits you’re missing out on by sticking with what you’ve always known. This applies to major life decisions as well as smaller choices, such as sticking with the same phone. No matter the scale of the change, embracing something new helps keep things fresh.”

Embracing small changes can be effortless. Respondents mentioned that when they have made changes in the past, it left them feeling refreshed, motivated, and confident.

Other areas of life that adults expressed a desire to tweak include their dress sense (19 percent), friends (15 percent), and their choice of bank (11 percent).

However, despite their eagerness to change certain aspects of their lifestyles, 36 percent of respondents admitted to being somewhat indecisive.

Furthermore, 52 percent believed that making a significant change in their life would be too costly, while 40 percent lived in fear of the change not working out.

Brits claimed to most frequently get bored with their diet (27 percent), home décor (22 percent), and the area they live in (20 percent).

Interestingly, 12 percent of those polled admitted to contemplating major changes in their lives multiple times a week.

The spokesperson from Virgin Media O2 added, “While making a substantial change in one’s life requires careful consideration and courage, making a small change doesn’t have to be challenging. With our Switch Up offering, our customers can experience the excitement of a new phone whenever it suits them.”
