Warm hubs, village halls and community groups helping people through the colder months can now apply for funding from National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), as part of a drive to support Cornish households this winter.
Funding is available to support warm spaces and to improve the energy efficiency of community buildings, such as village halls, that host them.

Individual grants of up to £5,000 are available for registered charities and non-profit organisations through NGED’s Community Matters Fund, which is open for applications until 5pm on Friday, October 16.
Andlyn White, NGED’s Social Impact Business Partner, said: “As we head into winter, we recognise the important role community organisations play in supporting people through challenging circumstances which is why energy affordability continues to be a focus of our winter funding programme.
"By supporting organisations that are deeply connected to their local communities, we help ensure practical support reaches those who need it most."
NGED is making £500,000 available through its Community Matters Fund this autumn, with constituted charitable organisations without a charity number able to apply for grants of up to £2,000.
This winter funding forms part of National Grid’s ongoing commitment to helping customers access affordable energy and support within their communities.
Additional support is available for customers who may need extra help during a power cut through the Priority Services Register.
