Firefighters from four stations in Cornwall were called to a fire on a land-based boat on Monday afternoon.
Crews were alerted at 4.10pm on Monday [September 21] to what was described as a "significant fire" in the cabin area of a 15m boat which was on land at Polruan at the time of the incident.
Appliances and firefighters from Polruan, Looe, Fowey and Bodmin found smoke coming from the vessel on arrival.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters entered the boat and used a main jet to tackle the fire in the accommodation area. After ensuring the fire was extinguished crews monitored the vessel using a thermal imaging camera and a gas detector.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service explained that crews continued to monitored the incident to ensure that the temperatures within the boat dropped, confirming that the fire was out and had not spread to hidden voids.
The cause of the fire has not yet been made public.
