Burglars, drunk drivers and violent offenders have faced magistrates in Devon, receiving punishments that include fines, unpaid work, alcohol bans, community orders and suspended sentences. The following list details criminals who appeared in court in the last couple of weeks. All criminal cases begin at the magistrates court, with the most serious ones progressing to crown court.
William Johnstone, 63, of Market Street, Exeter, pleaded guilty to sending multiple unwanted messages amounting to stalking of a male causing distress between 28/04/2025 and 06/11/2025. He received a 12-month community order, three months of electronic monitoring, and a three-year restraining order.
Tyler Moore, 20, of Little Barley, Exeter, pleaded guilty to offering to supply cannabis and cannabis edible products on 26/03/2025 and possessing 78g of cannabis on 08/04/2024. He received a 12-month suspended sentence, with deprivation of £1,192.
Clive Rees, 75, of Westcliffe Terrace, Seaton, pleaded guilty to making indecent photos of children by downloading them between 04/03/2025 and 04/02/2023. He was sentenced to 35 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, with a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement and mental health treatment. The court noted offending over eight years and deliberate searching of young children.
Kyle Wakeman, 23, of Pinhoe Road, Exeter, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon, namely a collapsible baton, and a seven-inch blade on 30/01/2024 at Exe Bridges. He received a 12-month community order with 200 hours of unpaid work.
Algirdas Stasiukaitis, 35, of Hornbeam Road, Exeter, pleaded guilty to assaulting a female causing ABH on 07/07/2025. He received a 12-month community order, was ordered to pay £500 in compensation and a £80 fine.
Salvatore Cascone, 32, of Church Street, Morchard Bishop, was found guilty of assaulting a male by beating on 02/11/2025 at Belmont Park, Exeter. He received a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and £210 compensation.
Ian Shaddick, 38, of Culver Close, Bradninch, pleaded guilty to drug driving on Prince of Wales Road (BZE) on 14/12/2025. He received a 12-week suspended sentence for 12 months, a rehabilitation activity requirement, and a four-year driving disqualification. The court noted a record of like convictions and that a serious collision occurred.
Daniel Thompson, 47, of Atherton Way, Tiverton, pleaded guilty to assaulting a female by beating on 10/06/2026 at Cullompton. He received a 12-month community order with an exclusion order and electronic monitoring for six months, plus 100 hours of unpaid work.
Lewis Seccombe, 45, of c/o Sunflower Road, Barnstaple, pleaded guilty to drink driving on 15/08/2026 in Barnstaple, with 82mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. He was disqualified for 17 months and fined £346.
Robert Boundy, 27, of C/O West Park, Barnstaple, pleaded guilty to damaging a window belonging to North Devon District Hospital to the value of £634, and threatening unlawful violence to others on 06/11/2025. He received a 12-month community order and was ordered to pay £634 compensation.
Petr Hlavacek, 31, of New Street, Torrington, pleaded guilty to drug driving on the B3232 (DTC) on 07/03/2026. He was disqualified for 17 months and fined £692.
Christopher Higgs, 38, of Lakeside Avenue, Lydney, Gloucestershire, pleaded guilty to assaulting a female by beating on 30/05/;2026 at Woolacombe. He received a 12-month community order, was ordered to pay £100 compensation and a £230 fine.
Karl Evans, 44, of NFA, Bideford, pleaded guilty to assaulting a female by beating on 19/02/2025 and to being the owner of a dog, namely Dexter the Staffordshire bull terrier, which was dangerously out of control, with no injury. He received a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work, was disqualified from keeping a dog for six months, and was deprived of Dexter. He was also ordered to pay £500 compensation.
Lewis Flynn, 32, of NFA, Exeter, pleaded guilty to possession of a blade in a public place, namely a samurai style sword, on 06/09/2026 at Lower North Street, Exeter, and to entering as a trespasser The Fat Pig with intent to steal on 07/09/2026. He was committed to Exeter Crown Court for sentence on 06/10/2026.
