Cornwall’s Key School Term Dates Announced

The summer holidays are ending, and Cornwall's schools reopen tomorrow morning, Thursday September 3. After weeks of rest, children across the Duchy will return to class.

Cornwall Council has confirmed term dates for the next two school years, so families can plan ahead. For most community and voluntary-controlled schools, the autumn term runs for 72 days, ending Friday December 18. October half term is from Monday October 26 to Friday October 30.

The spring term starts Monday January 4, 2027 and runs until Thursday March 25. February half term is from February 15 to 19. The summer term begins Monday April 12 and continues until Friday July 23. The final half term of the academic year runs from May 31 to June 4.

For the 2027/28 school year, it begins September 2, 2027, with autumn term finishing December 22. October half term is October 25 to 29. Spring term runs January 6 to March 31, 2028, with February half term from February 14 to 18. Summer term starts April 18 and finishes Friday July 21, with May half term from May 29 to June 2.

Parents should note that not every school follows these dates. Academies, foundation, trust and voluntary-aided schools can set their own calendars, so check individual school websites. Maintained schools also have five INSET days each year, when pupils stay home for staff training, and individual schools decide when to use them.

With term dates confirmed through summer 2028, families have time to plan holidays, childcare and school breaks.
